Talk Title: The Genomics of Rice Species Provides Insights Into the Rice Complex Traits, Domestication and Heterosis

Bio:

Dr. Bin Han is Director of the National Centre for Gene Research, and is also Directors of the Shanghai Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology & the Center of Excellence for Molecular Plant Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai. His current interests are in rice genomics, population genetics, genome-wide association study of complex traits, domestication, heterosis and applications of next generation sequencing to crop improvement. His PhD in molecular genetics (1992) was gained at the Sainsbury Laboratory of the John Innes Centre in UK and followed by 6 years of Post-Doctoral study in the Plant Science Dept. at the University of Cambridge in UK. He has been invited as a member of the Science and Impact Advisory Board of John Innes Centre since 2011. He was elected as a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013, and a Member of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in developing countries in 2014. He has been Vice-presidents of Chinese Society of Genetics & Chinese Society of Plant Biology since 2014.
